Meet the Founder and President of Child Health Honduras
Thank you for visiting the Child Health Honduras - CHH - website. About 16 years ago, I traveled to Honduras as a volunteer. I have been a United Methodist Pastor for 30 plus years, doing various mission work, local and overseas. However, my arrival in Honduras was specifically due to God answering my prayers of "How can I meaningfully connect and partner with the poor and also make a difference in the world?" Through my volunteering in Honduras, God has opened doors. Here is what I have experienced and learned:
-The poverty in Honduras is extreme. Most data tells us Honduras is the second poorest nation in this hemisphere, next to Haiti.
- Many suffer, but children suffer the most. A large portion of that suffering is related to health issues and sanitation.
-Hondurans are willing to partner with me to address these needs. Local solutions and using community assets, based on 16 years of relationships, provides an effective way to engage with these issues related to children.
-Organizing in a grass-roots way is cost effective, so 100% of donations goes to the projects. No overhead or organizational costs. See our "Donations" tab for further details.
- Education is also a significant need in Honduras, but if a child is sick, has untreated vision or hearing issues, then he or she cannot participate in schooling at an efficient level. CHH is truly a grass roots, relationship based, and community focused organization, dedicated to relieving the suffering of children.
I am thankful to God for the projects already accomplished, and I look forward to new partnerships that will allow more children to achieve healthy lives. Please look at our "Donations" tab for ways you can contribute and help. Thank you! If you have any questions about CHH, please contact me.
Hope and Peace,
David J. Bonney, Founder and President Child Health Honduras
